Holiday Cookie Swap!

Bake some πŸͺcookiesπŸͺ, lay them out & create your own cookie tray!  Join your neighbors for a Holiday Cookie Swap at Pat & Lisa's house Monday December 20 at 6pm.  Come with at least 2 dozen cookies & an ingredients list (for dietary restrictions) and a to go container.  Leave with 2 dozen cookies of your choice!  Bring your own beverage🍹 to hang out and chat with your neighbors for a bit, or just do the cookie exchange and leave!

See the cookie swap flyer (created by Brielle!-click on the link when it opens in a new page)

I'm making caramel chocolate chip cookies (fyi so there's no repeat) and I will be wearing a holiday shirt πŸ˜‰

Toys for Tots Drive

I will be dropping off some new toys for the Toys for Tots drive (which is projected to struggle this year) in Chesapeake City on Sunday December 5th.  Anyone that would like to donate as well, just send me an email or a text and I'll stop by to pick up on Sunday before I head over to town.

The donations will be dropped off to Frank Vari, with the CCEA, so they will also be accepting food or used clothing/household item donations.  If you'd like to clear out some clutter, get ready for pickup on December 5th.  Make sure to let me know if you'd like to participate so I can add you to the list of houses to stop at.

Community Food Drive

I emailed the neighborhood to let everyone know that I was dropping off donations for the Thanksgiving Holiday at the local food pantry.  I offered to pick up any donations anyone wanted to drop off.  We collected a trunk full!  My entire trunk was filled and I couldn't see out the back.  Frank Vari was so delighted with our generosity he sent this message:

"My wife and daughter started to separate food to make boxes to get ready for distribution before Thursday, Thanksgiving, and all that I asked for you delivered.  I don't know how to thank you except all who contributed will be in our prayers.  Please extend my thanks to all.  And a Happy & Blessed Thanksgiving, You are all Angels.  God Bless."

Awesome job Tower Point!  What a great neighborhood to live in!

Beach Update

Hello neighbors!

A quick and strong storm blew through the area a little over a week ago and there was crazy erosion on our beach that is still visible now.  Luckily the beach grass is doing its job and there are no problems in that area.  It's possible the water flowed where it did due to the ruts from tires-so just a reminder-please rake out tire marks after launching on the beach to help us keep our sand.  Here are some images to show you:      #1 the morning after the storm

#2 today, 7/20 erosion channel still visible but not as bad as it was

Mark and Val Smith donated a nice bookshelf for the shed.  There's some books and magazines on it for our little lending library.  Feel free to bring down some reading materials to share.

Lastly, Kevin replaced the plants in the pots in front of the shed with some hyssop and hostas.  They are very low maintenance and will fill in nicely.

Tower Point Common Area Guidelines

 DNR water police #1-800-628-9944

General Guidelines

  • Please be respectful of the beach and remove all waste when you leave the area

  • All benches and tables should be returned to their original location after use

  • QUIET HOURS are 10pm to 8am

  • Pet custodians must keep pets on a leash at all times and clean up after them

  • All parties using the common areas should be a resident or guest of a “homeowner” of Tower Point

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult after 10pm; parents and/or legal guardians are responsible for the actions of their children

  • Fires:

    • Any fires outside of the fire ring will require a burn permit

    • County Code does not permit fires outside of a fire ring in JULY and AUGUST

    • Be mindful of wind direction and speed so that smoke does not blow in shore towards resident homes

    • All fires must be extinguished before you leave, a fire bucket is located inside the shed

Beach Access

Boats/watercraft that intend to use beach access will enter the area at their own risk and bear the cost of any damage regarding either property damage or personal injury.  The TPHOA will not be held responsible.  By launching or utilizing any watercraft/boats through the Community Access, the Homeowner warrants their own insurance for coverage of themselves, their guests, and their watercraft/boat.

  • Safety First.  Warn any parties on the beach of your plans to launch and ensure clearance

  • Only boats & watercraft 16 feet and under are permitted to launch

  • Trailers and cars should be returned to the left side of the road after launching

  • Cars and trailers are temporarily permitted to park to the left side of the wooded area of the beach access road if the resident is boating between September 30th  and April 30th

  • Boat launchers should use the rake located inside the shed to smooth out any divots in the sand caused by their cars/trailers

Moorings

  • Moorings are permitted and should be clearly identified with a flotation device

  • Floats should have the name and phone number of the owner in permanent marker

  • For safety, moorings must be removed  by December 1st because ice and winter storms can disrupt the mooring causing a hazard to navigation

  • No moorings should be placed in front of the beach area; and should be placed equivalent or further out than the distance of the neighboring dock.  Please set your mooring to the left or right sides of the beach area

Kayaks

  • Homeowner use of the kayak rack will automatically assume and acknowledge that the TPHOA will not assume liability or risk and that the TPHOA will be “Held Harmless” regarding the storage and use of watercraft.

  • All kayaks must be removed from the kayak rack by Thanksgiving

  • Kayak rack is not for winter storage

Guidelines will be reviewed and revised as necessary                                                                                                                   Any compromise of TPCA guidelines should be documented and forwarded to the TPHOA Board of Directors for review and resolution
